Pacific White-sided Dolphin

Pacific white-sided dolphins are the acrobats of BC waters, known for their spectacular leaps and playful nature. These highly social dolphins travel in large pods and are often seen bow-riding alongside boats. Their striking coloration and energetic behavior make them a highlight of any whale watching trip.

Habitat

Deep offshore waters and coastal areas. Often found near underwater canyons and steep underwater topography.

Diet

Feeds on squid, small schooling fish like anchovies, herring, and sardines. Often feeds cooperatively in groups.

Behavior

Extremely active and acrobatic. Often seen leaping, somersaulting, and belly-flopping. Very social, traveling in groups from 10 to several thousand.
